Profile

The Florida Dental Hygiene Association (FDHA), founded in 1926, represents the more than 10,000 dental hygienists who practice in the state of Florida.

FDHA's mission is to advance the art and science of dental hygiene by increasing the awareness of and ensuring access to quality oral health care, promoting the highest standards of dental hygiene education, licensure and practice and promoting the interests of dental hygiene.

Since 1971, FDHA has published ProphyWays, the association's official publication to bring businesses and members scientific and technical articles on dental hygiene research and education as well as legistlative, public health and licensure issues. The Component (local) groups also offer newsletters to keep members informed regarding current issue.

FDHA provides continuing education to members and supports programs that inform other health care providers of the services offered by dental hygienists. The Florida Dental Hygiene Symposium, held each September or October, attracts hygienists from across the state who gather to hear presentations by nationally recognized experts in the dental health profession. In addition to the Symposium, component (local) seminars are offered throughout the year to keep members up-to-date with developments in the profession.

In addition to its comprehensive education programs, FDHA members are also entitled to participate in insurance programs, employment services, a signature loan by mail service and a VISA/MasterCard program.
